AI Hug Video From a Photo

People motion effect

A hug video is the most requested family effect and the easiest one to get wrong. The model has to move two bodies toward each other without melting faces, so the source photo matters more than the prompt. This page explains what a still needs to make the motion believable, and runs it in the free demo.

What the source photo needs

Pick a photo where both people are already in frame, reasonably sharp and lit from the same direction. The model reads the gap between them as the distance to close. If one person is cut off at the edge, or the two faces are at very different sizes, the motion will distort one of them.

A neutral pose beats a dramatic one. If the people are already leaning in or mid-laugh, the model has nowhere to travel and starts inventing limbs. A plain shoulder-to-shoulder shot gives the motion room to read.

  • Both faces fully visible, roughly the same size, no heavy occlusion.
  • A clear gap between the two people so there is distance to close.
  • Enough upper body in frame for shoulders to move.

Setting expectations for a family keepsake

This is a motion effect, not a face transplant. Identity stays close to the source photo but is not guaranteed frame by frame, and hands are the first thing to break. Review the whole clip before you send it to anyone, especially to relatives who know the exact faces involved.

The strongest use is memorial and distance: a photo of a grandparent and a child, or two people who cannot be in the same room. Say so in your own words when you share it, because a believable hug video invites the question of whether it is real.

Prompts that work for this effect

Copy one, paste it into the box above and change the subject. Keep one motion per prompt; stacking three requests is what produces the melted frames.

Gentle approach and hold

The two people step toward each other and share a warm hug, arms wrap naturally, small smiles, camera holds still, soft daylight, no cuts.

Reunion energy

The two people rush together and embrace tightly, slight camera push in, emotional reunion, natural body movement, faces stay consistent.

Quiet and calm

Slow, calm hug between the two people, minimal movement, steady framing, soft indoor light, gentle breathing motion, no added people.

Questions about this effect

Can I merge two separate photos into one hug?

Not on this page. The free demo animates a single uploaded still, so both people must already be in the same photo. Combining two portraits is an image-composition step that has to happen before the animation.

Will the faces stay exactly the same?

Mostly, but not guaranteed. Short clips with small movement preserve identity best. Large movement, profile turns and overlapping faces are where distortion appears.

Is it okay to animate someone who has died?

That is a personal and family decision, and rules differ by platform. Our only hard line is consent: do not animate a person who would object, and label the clip as AI-generated when you publish it.

What if the hands look wrong?

Shorten the motion and keep hands out of the main frame, or crop tighter so the embrace is read from shoulders instead of fingers. Hands are the weakest part of every current model.

Does this cost credits?

The free demo on this page uses a public queue and does not touch a credit balance. The signed-in generators are separate and do consume credits.

Ready for a specific model or an HD export?

The free demo is a test lane. The signed-in generators expose more models, aspect ratios and repeatable settings, and they are the right place to spend credits once you know the prompt works.

Credit packs are one-time purchases. Prices are shown before checkout and no subscription is started.
